The Canada you dream of exists, but it's not a place you can visit. Bob and Doug, Martha and the Muffins (actually, more likely The Tragically Hip), The Cat Came Back -- they all exist in the Canadian consciousness, directly or indirectly depending on your age. But it's sort of like a Canadian getting exposed to The IT Crowd, Beano, and Nigel Planer's version of "Hole in My Shoe", then wanting to go visit *that* Britain. Platform 9 3/4, where are you when we need you?
But come to Canada anyway! The water's fine -- in summer, at least. And there are a ton of things to fall in love with that you've never even heard of. I predict the wide open spaces, the lakes so big you can't see the other side, and the different lifestyle will win you over like a two-four and a box of donuts.
