I hope your Commonplace book shows up. This has prompted me to write my name, email, and phone number in mine.

Great post, Mark! I was so pleased to see your Note included in 'On Substack's post on Monday - that was a really super thread on collaboration, and I'm so glad they followed up with a post about it. Kudos for the mention!

I'm ever so sorry to hear about your misplaced commonplace book - that's really upsetting. It's no exaggeration to say that I'd be utterly beside myself if I lost either of my notebooks. I've got my name and phone number in the front of each, just in case, and just hope that if I ever lose one I'll get a phone call. Well, that's the theory!

I love the sound of your FAQs! I've been thinking about getting together with my own regular collaborator Terry Freedman to 'compare FAQs' as part of our correspondence, although given the light-hearted nature of our letters to date, those FAQs are more likely to be tongue-in-cheek than in any way credible...! 😁

Thanks, Rebecca, I was surprised to see the link. Tongue in cheek is always fun!

I like your lo tech divider. I devised one myself, but it's not as cool as yours.

I like the idea of weird prompts so I've subscribed to Amy's newsletter. I might use the FAQs idea for an experiment in style.

Space 1999 was good. Best awful effects were in Lost in Space!

I have been thinking about our Collab and will be updating the shared doc soon

Excellent, looking forward to hearing from you. As for the dividers, it's all in the pens/ruler/paper!

"Sometimes I do get asked if I’m OK, mainly because I tend to look stern or worried a lot because I’m usually thinking hard about something." <--ME. Ha! Why does thinking require me to look angry?

Hoping someone makes sure your Commonplace book lands home. I would be so bummed, too, and probably making myself a little nuts trying to remember the last place I had it.

I look forward to your article about public libraries Mark, you're right we need more conversation about them. Love your line dividers!

I need to get working on that piece!

Just stopping by real quick: "The Power Broker" is amazing. It comes up in conversation sometimes when I talk with my architect friend (with whom I collaborated on a piece about the future of architecture and infrastructure). Caro's descriptions are utterly fascinating, and it's easy to get lost in the ambition.

I liked space 1999 as a kid. I even had their phaser equivalent as a water gun. I rewatched season 1 recently and it is pretty rough. I haven't been able to stomach season 2. Thunderbirds is right out.

Oh how I loved Barbara...

I hope you find the Commonplace book, Mark, with luck, it's just sitting somewhere close by, where you normally don't put things, in a moment of haste. I want to secure a copy of Power Broker and look longingly at it, along with the rest of a slow growing stack.

Hi Mark! Dividers are cool. We all need them.

Meh, libraries. (Jk as you know!)

Loving the newsy newsletter. Hopefully your commonplace book shows up! (Though if it doesn’t, god forbid, post on making a new one?)

I never saw Space:1999 until I was a young adult--I wasn't born yet when it came out. My husband and I watched it together on the recommendation of a Gen X friend and enjoyed the camp. I think my favorite moment may be when the moon gets an atmosphere temporarily and they *open the windows.*

Thanks, Mark, for this post. I appreciated reading your thoughts regarding your one-year anniversary. Gave me food for thought, as I'm also celebrating my one-year anniversary next week, and have been working on my post. Kudos on your growth in only one year! 💜

Looking forward to your article on public libraries. I've been in a number over the years and can't wait to see what you have to say on the subject.

Glad you found the book.
