If you have white spots on your nails you might need zinc. And generally men need it even more than women. And alcohol and sweating in the summer loses zinc. All grains including corn ( think corn syrup added to everything) blocks the uptake so it needs quercitin to open the receptors. Our compound pharmacist told me that and she said most people are zinc deficient ( I assume because cereal proteins messing with the uptake). I got sick at Xmas and realized I hadn’t kept up with zinc. I had the white spots. Also zinc deficiency presents with losing taste and smell. Happy healing!!

Hey Mark, your ability to always look at the positive outcomes when faced with a cruddy situation is something I've always admired about you.

I'm sorry you had such a challenging August, but I'm happy to hear you've persevered.

Hang in there, baby. I really enjoy your writing.

I'm sorry you've had to endure all of this, Mark, and glad to know that you are on the road to feeling better. As a nurse (who has occasionally been a patient) all I can say is "Bodies!!! It's always something!!!" Maybe there's a small consolation in the potential benefits of a hard re-start? It's weird to pause everything you enjoy about normal life and then return. But sometimes the return comes with a new energy and insight that will pull you along to places you would never have otherwise gone. In any case, go easy and start back gently.🌱

Glad that you’re doing better! And also like the positives you’ve taken from the experience. We all need resets now and then - unfortunately, it sometimes takes illness to realise this. Looking forward to more HATs - but your health comes first!

I hope you feel better soon! Wishing you a continued smooth recovery.

I'm wishing you a complete recovery! I was born with kidney problems. Don't run faster than you have strength. When I have infections or lose too much weight, it causes everything to taste like sawdust for awhile. I'm glad you're on the mend.

Ohh, ohh, ohh-it's been a month. Never walked that valley but always heard the pain is off the charts. So glad it's passing (?) and rest is always a good consequence. Regroup, my friend.

Glad to hear you're on the mend, Mark.

Life starts throwing more curveballs the older we get. Make dietary changes now and you'll reap the benefits. My daughter used to drink a lot of ice tea (sweetened) and ended up with a kidney stone. She substituted water and hasn't had a problem in years. I gave up pop/soda a long, long time ago and now enjoy 'bubbly' water. (Of course, I still LOVE sugar in other forms.) 😬

Be patient with your recovery!
