SOME NEW THINGS
It’s the 18th edition of the link posts at How About This. Please find attached 18 pixels for your enjoyment (you may have to squint a bit to see them).
Monday, Oct. 10 is a statutory holiday in Canada, our version of Thanksgiving, so I will have some things to say about that and compare it to the US version of Thanksgiving.
Also… we are approaching the 2022 goal of 500 subscribers! Less than 40 to go!
And watch for details about a giveaway (prize) at the end of October to celebrate the 6 month anniversary of How About This!
H.A.T. Scouts, time to share!
OVER THERE (found elsewhere)
Getting us ready for Halloween (?), Bryn shares a disturbing story about our disturbingly laissez-faire attitudes towards technology: in the case, the fire extinguisher bomb and how you really wouldn’t want to be around one.
Great guest post by Anu Kirk - those of us who work in or with technology can appreciate what this post is saying.
Interesting timing, Dave Karpf published this post just one day before Elon Musk apparently agreed to purchase Twitter as he originally said he would do. Interesting speculation about how the techno-elite think.
Soaring Twenties Social Club links:
Symposium #5 - theme was The Beach
Omnibus #36 - the usual weekly round up, a great diversity of writers and creators working here
BACK HERE (the past week’s posts)
Saturday (Oct. 1) was a month 5 report, the current state of How About This
Monday featured 3 mini-essays about life in Atlantic Canada (or my corner at least)
Tuesday was the Nora Young interview
Wednesday featured the latest Curious Realizer post where I propose a technique for notebook harvesting
Thursday featured a poll about the types of content readers like to see in a newsletter.
CROSS-PROMOTION(S)
If you have a newsletter and want to expose your work to more people, consider signing up for The Sample (referral link) to join a network of other publishers. It’s also another good way to find newsletters tailored to your interests and quickly subscribe to them.
Refind (referral link) is a service that recommends 7 links to posts, articles and websites several times per week (even daily). You can provide positive (or negative) feedback on the links which will lead to even more interesting links.
RELEASE
Time to release the H.A.T. Scouts for another week! And remember, it’s always better to be a H.A.T.T.E.R. than a hater.
Congratulations on almost reaching 500! So exciting!
Your recommendations are filling up my inbox! Thanks - some great ones!
