Sarah knew her stuff. Owned and operated that video store for over 30 years, managed to survive Netflix for a long while. She even out-competed a Blockbuster video that moved in across the street for less than a year. Alas.
I enjoyed this interview, Mark and Dane. A question: does the STSC have a group that focuses on screenwriting? I don't know much about the group, so. Y question might be off base a bit. When I've dabbled in screenwriting it's been with Highland 2, available in both paid and free versions. Does what I need and more. Have a happy Christmas.
Hi Mark. I'm not aware of any group focusing on screenwriting but I'm sure there are people around like DB (Dane) who could certainly speak to the topic.
There aren't many filmmakers in STSC but there are a couple. I don't see scripts shared around there much. Generally speaking I get my formatted-and-know-the-world feedback from a group called FilmShop and I bounce my scripts of the STSC for people who love story but won't be caught up on "You can't have a dog, an old woman, and a baby in the same scene, no producer will ever take that gig" style feedback.
I laughed hard when he mentioned that trio of films. That video store clerk is an epic troll 😂

Fascinating read about a fascinating man.
Very informative & interesting...I learned a lot, particularly about what constitutes being a 'filmmaker.' Really good stuff for us laypeople!
