What a great idea for a post, Mark - thank you so much for asking!
I'm Rebecca, from south-east UK, and when I'm not outside getting lost I'm inside writing about it.
I'm in the early stages of a bigger writing project, which is exciting but terrifying, and alongside that I'm continuing to assist my husband with his photography work. He's just been commissioned to shoot his second book, and we're both looking forward to everything that's going to be involved with that!
Hi, Mark, this is a nice idea, thank you for the opportunity. I've been a published writer since 1989, and have enjoyed a main career in education. I have several newsletters and websites, but my Substack one is where I write about things that interest me: literature, life in general, the writing craft and education. At the moment i'm working on a series called Experiments in Style, in which I take a very mundane story and transform it in various ways. I live in London, England.
I'm nearly finished with a short-story that provides some glimpses into my childhood (childhood is sort of a place I go for inspiration these days). I'm also slowly working on this larger fantasy piece, but work keeps getting in the way of that. And there's also a lil' Drabble compilation I'm compiling and one secret-for-now project I'm a bit involved in. Oh, and there's also the Substack Letters style exchange (I saw you're doing one as well). So, a lot of stuff!
I'd like to do something with photography. A story with a lot of pictures or a photo walk. But I usually go on walks with my dog, and I'm occupied with playing with her. But days are getting longer, so more potential photo time as well.
Hey mate, just balancing a new year between teaching English and writing comics. All day it’s Hamlet and Donne and deep thinking, and out of hours it’s pitching wild sci fi/crime stories.
Thank you, Mark! Hello, everyone. When I'm not answering student questions and discussing the state of writing (I recently wrote about AI and higher education), I'm publishing dark fiction for Sunday Reads and working on my novel.
UK based. I write short fiction here: https://adrianconway.substack.com. My next story this month is titled: Books Like White Elephants. My novella The Pelican Crossing will be in the shops and online in May. I also write about storytelling in the Bible here: https://scriptourer.substack.com.
Great idea Mark. I write bite-sized rants, rambles and observations encompassing many topics, none too controversial and all an easy, quick read. It’s title is easy to remember ... “All That and a Bag of Chips”.
Hello all! Pr0ph3t is holed up in the wilds of suburban central Alabama, currently writing Theofuturism, which is my Substack exploration of the uncharted intersection between Christianity, futurism and technology with a sprinkling of life advice thrown in. Currently in the middle of a job change and planning to decrease the tempo of releases a bit, but excited to stay active!
I'm Dane Benko, filmmaker in NY who writes Indulging a Second Look: https://polarisdib.substack.com/ , a Substack that (spoiler alert!) will soon be rebranding to be a continuous document of my inspirations.
Currently I am working on editing a short film I shot, producing a short film I wrote, and completing the second draft of a feature I wrote.
This is nice. I go by the name gkgiaus, and at the moment, I am currently working on editing a novella I wish to publish this year. Also working on a few other projects to publish on substack weekly.
I've never done a lot of writing, except for work. And that's more technical writing in the software development space.
But, NaNoWriMo has been on my list for a long time, so I'm in the very early stages of planning a novel. It may fizzle out, but hopefully I can keep myself motivated. And stop using conjunctions to start sentences. :-)
My non-working, non-writing time I spend writing music. Travel was a huge thing for me before the pandemic, but I haven't really resumed that for one reason or another. Hopefully by the end of the year. My current job allows me to work remotely, so spending a couple of months someplace is a definite possibility too.
I’m Ali and I live in LA so I’m just seeing this now. One thing I’m so excited about is that I’m doing The Artist’s Way with over 100 of my subscribers right now! We’re only on week 2 but a lot is coming up for me already. aliv.substack.com if anybody wants to join in!
Hi friend! I’m Alison, from New Brunswick also, just the other side from Mark 🙂
I’m mostly working on being a slightly less tired librarian - end of fiscal year and a steady uptick in demand for searches has zapped my energy. But when I’m not doing that: trying to get through my backlog of ARCs to review for The Miramichi Reader (you can find a blurb from a review I did on the back of Hotline by Dimitri Nasrallah, which is one of the five books for Canada Reads this year!), working on a small watercolour to use as my header here and on other social media, and working on developing an idea for a novel I got in the middle of NaNoWriMo in November (when I was writing something else).
What a great idea for a post, Mark - thank you so much for asking!

Congrats on your husband's second book. That shows just how good his photography is.
It's really kind of you to say so, Matt! Thank you - I'll pass that on! 😊

I'm pretty sure I came across a graphic novel version of Hamlet 😁
There's even a Das Kapital manga - https://www.amazon.com/Capital-Manga-Karl-Marx/dp/1926958195
Ooh, that’d be good for attention holding moments in class. Thanks for the reminder.

Hi Mark! I've been busy writing about writing and dropping doodles in my newsletter - also had my latest book for young readers come out yesterday :)
Well done!
Thank you!
Wow, congratulations, Meaghan! 🙌
Thank you so much, Rebecca!
Hello! Great to be here.
I write a weekly newsletter covering things I’m learning that I think could be useful in your life.
I share 1 big thing each week. 2 recommendations and 3 actions to take.
This week the title is “Are you constantly feeling tired?” And I cover some simple things you can do to help. Out Friday.

^ This guy's too coy, he also has a novella called Emilia published!

I have always wanted to write. Living in Israel, close to retirement. I am working on a series about James Joyce's Ulysses, a life-long love.
Any friend of Joyce...
Where in Israel Ehud if you don’t mind me asking? Traveled there extensively over the past decade and miss it very much.
South. Beer Ganim near Ashkelon
