It’s the end of another week (and welcome new subscribers, by the way!) I’m sitting here trying to put my mind back together after the first season finale of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds just phasered it into goo. More on that later.
Continuing the recent Friday tradition, here are some of the good things the H.A.T. scouts have found in the wilds of the Internet.
Educational material: if you’ve ever wondered why no one has tried this, here it is: Why can’t a magnet propelled truck actually work?
Critical thinking: along the same lines of my recent post about the baloney detection kit, here’s are more guidelines about how to evaluate stuff you read on the internet
More about Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, as a futuristic workplace drama (my own take is here).
I recently discovered Rebecca Holden and I love the tone and wit of her recent post about getting lost:
For folks in NB, you can hear this CBC interview with James Fisher about his terrific website The Miramichi Reader [spoiler alert: we’ll be hearing from James here at How About This within the next few weeks…]
Two Twitter accounts I enjoy:
Archillect - supposedly images found and published by an AI engine of some kind. The ocular engine.
Also, here’s one of my old posts concerning one of my all time favorite bands, XTC, on the Lateral Action blog
Until next time, hit it.
Gosh Mark, thanks so much for the shout-out! :D :D :D
I had a brainwave on a very long walk when it was far too hot last week: do I simply get lost because I get distracted by the stones in my shoes? I mean, on that walk the only thing I could THINK about was the discomfort to my feet, AND I got lost - sooooo Rebecca gets distracted therefore Rebecca gets lost. I tested it on my very long too hot walk this morning.....
Turns out that was too bold a conclusion to draw, and my research continues!
