How About These Links #29 20221223
The H.A.T. Scouts report back with their findings as the holiday season looms invitingly
SOME NEW THINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
I’m writing this on Dec. 21 and the winter solstice occurs this evening, marking the start of a colder and miserable season with the longest night of the year. This will have passed by the time you read this and, as I often think to myself in winter, the tide is turning as the days will now slowly lengthen again. Holidays begin shortly and they are coming none too soon.
The week of Dec. 26 - 30 may have a very light publishing schedule (travel/holiday plans). I might only post once that week but we’ll see.
MORE NEWS: in 2023, there are two changes in store for How About This:
I’m going to shift to three regular posts/week starting January 1, 2023 and may experiment with cutting back further. I’ll publish Monday Wednesday Friday. Mondays will alternate posts every week: Atlantic Canadian interviews one week, Creator Spotlights the second week, and so on. Wednesdays will remain Curious Realizer posts and Fridays will remain How About These Links posts.
Paywalled content: I’m going to experiment with some content for paid subscribers only during 2023. I have a couple of ideas of things I’d like to try out, some in-depth analysis of some topics or specific books.
NOTEBOOK GIVEAWAY: I am giving away a MOO notebook at the end of December 2022 to the winner of a draw. It’s a A5 sized hardcovered notebook with dotted pages. Each H.A.T. subscriber automatically gets one entry into this draw if they are a subscriber as of the end of December 31, 2022.
However… you can get more entries towards the notebook draw by doing any (or all) of the following:
Each December 2022 post on which you leave a comment will earn you an extra two chances at the draw. For example, if there are 12 posts in December and you leave a comment on each post then you can get 24 extra entries into the draw. PLEASE note: it needs to be a real, substantial comment, not just a couple of words, OK?
If you recruit a new email subscriber to How About This during the month of December then you can get 10 extra draw entries per subscriber. In order to get the extra 10 entries, the new subscriber will have to E-mail me at markdykeman@gmail.com and they will have to tell me the email address of the person who recruited them. This email address must be the email address used to subscribe to How About This.

RELEASE
This is my last regular post before Christmas. Good ol’ H.A.T.T.E.R., I wish you all the best of this festive season, whether you celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Crimbo, Festivus, some other tradition or if you’d just like some time of peace.
And remember, it’s always better to be a H.A.T.T.E.R. than a hater.
