How About These Links 19a - Bonus - Better Late Than Never
Three writers that I neglected to mention this week, better late than never?
I don’t normally do this but there are three writers that I want to mention as a special follow up to my weekly links wrap up post. I should have caught them the first time around and I still wanted to share them with everyone. As a bonus, I’ll share two posts by each writer. So here they are:
Rebecca Holden
If you’ve been reading How About This for any length of time you’ll recognize Rebecca’s name, she’s one of the most frequent commentators here. She’s also a wonderful writer in her own right:
Put simply, the “girl in purple trousers” story is my favorite post of Rebecca’s to date. It’s a story about shared experience and finding a kindred soul. And about kindness. It’s wonderful.
This is Rebecca’s most recent post where she returns to one of her major themes: being lost. Another typically great story!
Jillian Hess
Jillian is an English professor at CUNY and other person you have have seen in H.A.T.’s comments section of late. I’m running an interview with her within a few days. But for now, let’s let her writing speak for itself:
This post by Jillian was recently featured in the Substack Reads newsletter, highlighting some of the best recent writing by Substack newsletter publishers. Jillian takes a deep dive into some of Kahlo’s diary entries in this great post.
In this post Jillian reviews the cork board, one of the key tools and techniques used by famed author Robert Caro, known for his extensive and well researched biographies of 20th century US political figures and power brokers.
Alex Dobrenko
All around creative guy Alex has been publishing Both Are True, mixing autobiography with humour and more.
Another selection featured in Substack Reads, Alex writes about a recent visit by his parents, the grandparents to Alex’s toddler son. Hilarity, among other things, ensues.
Among other things, Alex writes about his twin brother Brad and… well actually… you’d better just read this one.

I really enjoy Noted - hard to believe it's only a month old! I'll be sure to check out Both Are True and Dear Reader, I'm Lost. Thanks for the recommendations.
