SOME NEW THINGS
It’s the 17th edition of the link posts at How About This,
Watch for a special post tomorrow (Sat., Oct. 1) including my month 5 progress report! AND… another special announcement on Oct. 1!
Today, September 30th, is The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day in Canada. It is both a federal statutory holiday and an Indigenous-led grassroots movement (Orange Shirt Day) to recognize and reflect on the impact of Residential schools on Indigenous people.
From the Government of Canada:
The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
From orangeshirtday.org
September 30th has been declared Orange Shirt Day annually, in recognition of the harm the residential school system did to children's sense of self-esteem and well being, and as an affirmation of our commitment to ensure that everyone around us matters.

Bryan writes about akrasia, which somehow is not the root of the word crazy.
Adam S. provides advice about dealing with trolls.
And, lest I forget, the STSC Omnibus #35 (there’s still a few openings in the Soaring Twenties Social Club, by the way)

Wednesday featured the latest Curious Realizer post where I wrote about whether or not thinking is social or if we can have thoughts on our own independent of the influence of other people.
As a special WTH bonus for the week, I published a short story for the Soaring Twenties Social Club using the topic The Beach - one reader has claimed that my story was “delightfully messed up”. Could be…
