How About These Links #10 - Aug. 12/22
The H.A.T. Scouts return from their 10th trip with more goodness
SOME NEW THINGS
It’s the 10th edition of the link posts at How About This, during which time the title of these posts has changed almost weekly! In addition to standardizing on the name How About These Links, I’m also going to start numbering them like you see in this newsletter’s title.
A couple of other changes that will be rolling out over the next few weeks:
First, this Friday newsletter will also include a summary of the week’s posts at How About This, in addition to new interesting links that I’ve found. It should make sharing more convenient
nudge nudge hint hint.I’m going to start experimenting with some intentional cross-promoting with other newsletters and discovery sites. I have 3 - 4 opportunities in mind with other newsletters or discovery sites. The goal is to share other newsletters that I think might be of interest to the H.A.T. community and vice versa. In that vein, think of yourself as a H.A.T.T.E.R. (How About This Terribly Engaged Reader, or maybe something much cooler, I dunno). Remember, it’s always better to be a H.A.T.T.E.R. than a hater.
OVER THERE (found elsewhere)
The Soaring Twenties Social Club’s weekly Omnibus is always guaranteed to provoke thought.
At Technocomplex, Mark writes about libraries, anti-libraries and fascinating book covers that never were (or were they?)
At Risk Musings, some thoughtful points about anchoring and recency bias:
From Stories All The Way Down, a reply to someone else’s newsletter about the staggering amount of choice currently available in pop culture, books, TV shows, etc:
Erik Hoel has an interesting selection of topics in this post:
Something thought provoking from Experimental History:
Also, this Copypasta post is terrific.
BACK HERE (the past week’s posts)
*PREENS*
I was interviewed by Jim Fisher for his Miramichi Reader Podcast where I talked about Substack (including this newsletter) so you can hear me babble on for a few minutes. Be warned, I hope to be on more podcasts at some point!
RELEASE
Time to release the H.A.T. Scouts for another week!
We don't need to be mad to be H.A.T.T.E.R.s, do we? :)
Proud to be a H.A.T.T.E.R., Mark! I do love a label to proclaim my identity! :D
